Picture this: twinkling lights, fun, festive music playing, and heaps of deliciousness at every turn. Yep, it’s that magical time of year when family, friends, parties and food takes center stage. But hold up! How do you dive into all these festive feasts without feeling like you’ve gone overboard? Not to worry one bit—I’ve got your back with some nifty tricks.

Let’s kick things with a few simple tips, shall we?

Slow down while you eat. Really s-l-o-w down. If you can, take a pause between bites, and breathe. Think of it as doing something between bites- wipe your mouth with your napkin, ask someone a quesion, take a sip of water, do something before you go in for another bite. Focus on chewing each bite. and before you go back for seconds?… Ask yourself, “Am I still hungry?” Remember It’s best to stop eating when you are 80% full.

Load up your plate with veggies first then add in lean proteins and healthy fats. Some ideas, chicken skewers, shrimp, cheese, hummus, guacamole. These proteins and healthy fats will not only taste delicious but help you feel statisfied. Having a veggie starter will help prevent the blood sugar spike.

Research says using smaller plates tricks our brains into eating less. So, always opt for those cute appetizer plates. Voila! You can savor your meal without stressing about portion sizes.

Stay hydrated. It’s important to get your water in, all day everyday. Drinking enough water is one of those basic fundamentals that a lot of us know we need to do but sometimes need a little reminder. So let this be yours.
